Re:          Safe Sport Compliance: Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector Checks

Softball Saskatchewan thanks our membership for their efforts in meeting our Safe Sport requirements and for their commitment to a safe environment for all participants.

We would like to clarify that all umpires, regardless of level, are required to obtain a valid Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).

As part of Safe Sport and risk management requirements, all coaches, designated team staff, umpires, board members, and board liaisons over the age of 18 must have a current CRC and VSC. This applies to anyone who has, or may have, direct contact with athletes under 18.

Associations are responsible for:

• Ensuring all required individuals obtain a valid CRC and VSC
• Collecting and reviewing documentation
• Uploading and tracking records in the RAMP system
• Monitoring expiry dates and ongoing compliance

CRC/VSC documentation is valid for three (3) years from the date of issue. Any concerns or disclosures must be escalated to Softball Saskatchewan for review. Individuals must also report any change in status during the validity period.

A CRC/VSC request letter is attached for your use when working with volunteers. (You can download this under our FORMS tab on the homepage)
